The improvement of the 3D technologies for few years has led the stereoscopic vision to be more and more attractive for many actors in the cinema, gaming and TV market. This keen interest leads to the explosion of the number of 3D films in 2010 and the fast development of 3DTV for the consumer market. Moreover, the “buzz” of Avatar at the beginning of the year strengthened the enthusiasm of the spectators for this technology.
Today most of 3D technologies impose the use of active or passive glasses to obtain the stereoscopic vision. The glasses allow the left eye to see the left image without seeing the right image and inversely for the right eye. Once the image is correctly filtered for each eye your brain creates the stereoscopic vision. The performances of the glasses depend on the technology used and are critical to offer the spectator an optimal 3D optical quality.
